About The Event
Pavey Ark and friends bring 2020 to a close with an intimate concert at the Wrecking Ball Arts Centre.
This is their only Hull concert since their appearance on the Glastonbury Acoustic stage in June. With full band, strings and horns it is certainly a show not to be missed. The band will be playing tracks from their debut album plus many news songs from their forthcoming 2023 follow up.
Atmospheric vocals, strings and horns glide over finger-picked guitar, melodic bass and complex percussion. The result is a beautiful cinematic indie-folk sound that evades immediate comparison, but upon further listening, the band’s wide range of influences start to reveal themselves. From the laid back 60s / 70s folk of Jack.C.Frank and Rodrigues through to Nick Drake and Radiohead. Pavey Ark’s debut album Close Your Eyes and Think of Nothing received wonderful reviews from UNCUT, Record Collector, Folk Radio, BBC 6 Music and many more.
“A striking debut.” – UNCUT
“Pavey Ark set themselves up as a simple folk band then pull the rug out from under your feet. A call to arms from a band that demands to be heard.” – Folk Radio
