DESCRIPTION:TICKETS:  Katie Spencer and Henry Parker – Sat Dec 19th 2026 8pm-10pm – Wrecking Ball Arts Centre \nKatie Spencer and Henry Parker \nMid-Winter Tour 2026 \n\nTwo leading lights of the modern day folk-guitar scene take their annual mid-winter concert on the road; an intimate solo set from each musician precedes a rare and joyous moment of collaboration to guide us gently into the festive season. \n\nKatie Spencer has become renowned across the UK\, for her acute personal songwriting\, performed with a signature deep vibrato vocal and a crystal-clear guitar style. She draws influence from Joni Mitchell\, Judee Sill and Michael Chapman yet makes the music inimitably her own. Her latest album What Love Is\, released in Autumn 2025 was met with critical acclaim\, landing at #12 in the Official Folk Charts and achieved glowing praise in the nation’s music press\, described as “a master-class of inspired and beautifully-sounding craftsmanship” by KLOF Magazine. \n\n“Her articulate picking\, with suggestions of folk and jazz\, frames intelligently written songs and is the backbone to her music” Guitarist Magazine \n\nHenry Parker’s intricate folk guitar playing leans heavily into the open-tuned stylings of Bert Jansch and Nick Drake\, whilst his own original songwriting dwells on themes of folklore\, landscape and the environment. His 2026 release\, The Dark Peak\, an instrumental homage to the Peak District National Park\, was praised on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction for its “luminous guitar playing and big Robbie Basho energy on the guitar”. \n\n“Channelling the ghosts of Jansch and Renbourn through his fingertips\, the fluid playing and emotive singing of Yorkshire-born Henry Parker evokes the spirit of the early-60’s folk revival as if it were yesterday.” – RnR Magazine \n\nwww.katiespencer.net \nwww.henryparkermusic.co.uk \n

SUMMARY:Pete Roth Trio feat Bill Bruford
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS    Pete Roth Trio ft Bill Bruford Friday Jan 29th 2027 8pm-10pm – Wrecking Ball Arts Centre \n  \nThe Pete Roth Trio features leader Pete on guitar\, Mike Pratt on bass\, and the incomparable Bill Bruford on drums. The band creates jazz for a new generation of music enthusiasts\, exploring beyond traditional jazz conventions. A jazz standard might reveal its essence only in the final moments of performance. \nRoth’s original compositions\, such as “Dancing with Grace\,” the Trio’s collaborative works like “Trio in Five” and “Looking Forward to Looking Back\,” or their reinterpretation of masterworks like Anton Dvorak’s “Largo from Symphony #9\,” offer just a few gateways into the creative world of the Pete Roth Trio—a world that will likely reshape your perspective on what the guitar trio format can achieve. \nGuitar: Pete Roth  \nPete Roth\, a versatile artist and accomplished session guitarist\, born in Germany\, where his musical journey began in the heart of a family deeply rooted in music. At the tender age of 11\, he picked up the guitar\, setting the stage for a lifelong dedication to his craft. \n In his formative years\, Roth found inspiration in the raw emotion of blues and the electrifying energy of rock. However\, his musical horizons expanded when he ventured to England to study jazz. There\, he delved into the rich complexities of the genre\, drawing influence from luminaries such as Joe Pass\, John Scofield\, and Julian Lage. \n Equipped with a diverse array of influences and a passion for innovation\, Roth embarked on a solo career as a leader\, culminating in the recording of two albums under the banner of MGP Records. Yet\, his artistic journey continues to evolve\, as he now stands on the cusp of a new endeavour. \n With his sights set on exploring fresh musical territories\, Roth is poised to embark on his first trio adventure. He is set to weave intricate melodies and rhythms\, crafting imaginative jazz compositions that resonate with a new generation of music enthusiasts. \n Bass: Mike Pratt \n Mike is a double bass and bass guitar player\, composer and producer based in London. Early in his career\, Mike was drawn to funk\, acid jazz and fusion\, discovering the music of Weather Report\, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return to Forever\, then Steps Ahead\, John Scofield\, Charles Mingus and Duke Ellington. \n Mike performed fortnightly at Ronnie Scotts for several years in the ensemble Shorter Than Miles. Mike plays and writes for the jazz fusion project KGQ with Kieron Garret featuring Dave O’Higgins and Duncan Eagles on saxophone\, with two albums on 33 Jazz Records. He has performed with Acantha Lang and Liane Carroll\, and at the Cape Town Jazz Festival\, the Jazz Cafe and The Royal Albert Hall as well as many jazz venues in London\, across the UK and abroad.  \n Mike has taught bass and composition at Kingston University. He has recently written and performed with Laura Evans\, Oliver Tompsett and Curiosity Killed the Cat\, composed music for Ford and the FIA\, and recorded basses for the documentary Stewart. He is musical director for the live theatre rockumentary Seven Decades. \n The Pete Roth trio offers Mike an all-too-rare opportunity to depart from the traditional role of bass to become an equal partner in the melodic\, rhythmic and harmonic interplay of the trio. Mike combines his love for groove with a composer’s ear for innovative sounds and textures\, and a creative approach to improvised music. \n As daunting as it may be to reflect on the many bass players in Bruford’s extensive back catalogue (including Chris Squire\, John Wetton\, Jeff Berlin and many others)\, Mike focuses on the fact that this trio’s music is completely unlike that of any previous projects and thus he has a clean slate on which to draw his own thoughts and ideas. \n Drums: Bill Bruford \n Internationally known as a rock musician\, drummer Bill Bruford also has impeccable jazz credentials\, having recorded\, performed with or written music for Al Di Meola\, the Buddy Rich Orchestra\, David Torn\, Allan Holdsworth\, Tim Garland\, Django Bates\, Iain Ballamy and Chris Botti among others. \n Early success propelled Bill\, by nature a restless innovator uncomfortable with the well-worn path\, into a 40-year career as a bandleader and writer. His groups such as Bruford and Earthworks led the way with advanced harmony in rock in the 70s and 80s; samples\, electronics\, and odd metres in electric jazz in the 90s; and stylistic innovation in his 21st-century acoustic jazz. \n Bill’s taste for the unpredictable in live performance has led him to collaborations with dozens of the world’s top rock and jazz musicians in an endless search for the innovative\, the unusual\, and the unlikely. \n He was voted into Modern Drummer magazine’s Hall of Fame (1990)\, named by Rolling Stone magazine as #16 Greatest Drummer of All Time (2016) and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of ‘Yes’ (2017). \nStraddling both jazz and rock\, Bill’s work as a musician is well documented on CD and DVD at Summerfold and Winterfold Records\, on his YouTube Channel\, and at www.billbruford.com . He lives in the Surrey Hills\, UK\, with his wife\, Carolyn. \nPRT Photo by Leon Barker

SUMMARY:Sonny Flint’s Beano Bluesbreakers
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS:  Sonny Flint’s Beano Bluesbreakers – Fri Apr 23rd 2027 8pm-10pm – Wrecking Ball Arts Centre \n\nFormed to mark the 60th anniversary of John Mayall’s Blues Breakers with\nEric Clapton\, Sonny Flint’s Beano Bluesbreakers\, is a tribute to one of the\nmost influential recordings in British blues history. The project is\ndedicated to faithfully recreating the sound\, feel and musical intent of the original album\, which helped define the UK’s electric blues movement. \nThe band’s approach is rooted in authenticity\, and its performances closely\nfollow the original arrangements\, with careful attention paid to tone\,\ndynamics\, and period detail. Neil Roberts recreates Eric Clapton’s landmark\nguitar work using Gibson guitars and Marshall amplifiers\, while Sonny Flint\nplays a vintage Premier 54 Outfit drum kit consistent with the era. Vintage\nkeyboard sounds\, bass tones and harmonica complete a sound palette designed\nto reflect the character of the original sessions. \nThe project is further distinguished by its direct musical heritage. Sonny\nFlint is the son of Hughie Flint\, the original drummer on the album\,\nbringing a rare generational connection to the music itself. Vocalist Laine\nHines is the son of Denny Laine\, whose work with The Moody Blues and Wings\nplaces him firmly within the lineage of British blues and rock. These\nconnections add depth and perspective to a project built on respect\,\nunderstanding and lived experience. \nAs the album reaches its 60th anniversary\, Sonny Flint’s Beano\nBluesbreakers offers audiences the opportunity to hear this landmark\nrecording performed in full\, plus additional songs from the original live\nset\, with precision\, restraint and deep reverence for its place in music\nhistory. \n*Sonny Flint — Drums* \nSonny Flint began drumming at the age of thirteen\, inspired by his father\,\nHughie Flint\, the original drummer on John Mayall’s Blues Breakers with\nEric Clapton. Since then\, he has built a wide-ranging career across rock\nand blues\, including tours of the UK\, Germany\, Holland and the US with\nMartin Turner (ex-Wishbone Ash). He is now working with veteran\nsinger-songwriter Claire Hamill as part of the Claire Hamill Band. \n*Laine Hines — Vocals & Harmonica* \nLaine Hines is a blues-rooted vocalist and harmonica player with a\npowerful\, soulful delivery. Son of Denny Laine\, he brings an innate musical\ninstinct shaped by heritage\, while firmly establishing his own authentic\nvoice. His singing captures the spirit\, phrasing and emotional honesty\nessential to the Bluesbreakers sound. \n*Neil Roberts — Guitar* \nNeil Roberts has spent much of the last decade immersed in the music of\nEric Clapton\, performing across the UK and Europe in acclaimed tribute\nprojects and working alongside legendary Cream lyricist Pete Brown. A\ndedicated student of the Beano era\, Neil brings both technical authority\nand deep stylistic understanding to the Bluesbreakers’ classic repertoire.\nHis passion for vintage Gibsons\, early Marshall amps and mid-60s Mod\naesthetics completes the picture. \n*Pete Billing — Bass* \nPete Billing is a highly experienced bassist whose musical journey spans\nblues\, R&B\, funk\, soul\, jazz and rock. Having played hundreds of gigs\nacross London and the South East\, he brings a deep groove and broad musical\nperspective to the band. His career highlights include sharing stages with\nmajor artists and jamming with true rock legends—experience he now channels\nback into the blues where it all began. \n*Rick Pentecost — Keyboards* \nRick Pentecost has devoted his life to music\, combining a long-standing\ncareer as a professional piano tuner to world-class artists\, with decades\nof performance across a wide range of bands and styles. From early ska and\nblues projects to numerous high-profile tribute acts\, his versatility and\nmusical depth are unmistakable. A lifelong blues enthusiast\, Rick sees the\nBeano material as a natural and exciting musical home.

DESCRIPTION:TICKETS:    Albert Lee Wed May 5th 2027 8pm-10pm – Wrecking Ball Arts Centre \nGrammy-winning guitarist Albert Lee\, one of the most respected musicians in\nthe country-rock music scene\, will be joined on stage this year by his young\nUK Band\, Ali Petrie on Keys\, Iain Petrie on Bass and Tim Hillsdon on drums.\nAlbert made his name touring with the likes of Eric Clapton\, The Crickets\,\nThe Everly Brothers\, Joe Cocker and Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band through\nthe 70s and 80s\, and is widely regarded by his contemporaries as one of the\ngreatest guitarists in the world – described as “the ultimate virtuoso” by Eric\nClapton and “one of my all-time guitar gods” by US country sensation Brad\nPaisley.\nAlbert received a Grammy Award in 2002 for his contribution to “Foggy\nMountain Breakdown” featured on “Earl Scruggs and Friends”\, and won a\nGrammy for his performance on Brad Paisley’s instrumental “Cluster Pluck” in\n2009.\nLauded for his unparalleled picking style and versatility\, Albert was joined by\na massive list of over 50 special guests at his 70th Birthday Celebration\nconcerts at Cadogan Hall in 2014\, including Bill Wyman\, Shakin’ Stevens\,\nChas & Dave\, Gary Brooker\, The Shadows and Ralph McTell (now\navailable as a digital download).\nIn 2024\, Albert celebrated his 80th birthday – again at Cadogan Hall with\nanother huge line up of his favourite musician friends.\nAlbert received the Trailblazer Award in 2017 at the Americana Awards –\naccepted on his behalf by his great friend Andy Fairweather Low.\n“Highwayman”\, Albert’s highly-acclaimed solo album\, is a 12-track collection\nof acoustic covers. Recorded live and captured in a moment of true\ninspiration\, this raw and emotional record pays tribute to many of Albert’s\nmusical influences – the classic rock ’n’ roll of the Everly Brothers’ “Bye Bye\nLove”\, the deep feeling of Rodney Crowell’s ballad “Till I Can Gain Control\nAgain”\, and the centrepiece of the album in Jimmy Webb’s “The\nHighwayman” – a powerful and dramatic\, and most probably definitive\,\nversion of a true musical masterpiece.\n“Gypsy Man” is Alberts next solo album featuring his favourite Buddy Holly\nsongs – a musician Albert has always held in high regard.\nIn 2024 Albert recorded his latest album\, “Lay it Down” at the legendary Konk\nStudios. This is a mixture of tracks that Albert has wanted to do for some time\nand is getting rave reviews. All the albums are available through his on-line\nshop at albertleeofficial.com.\nMusician Quotes\n“I think that the new recording of Highwayman is fantastic\, the production is a\ntrue stand out. Albert\, your vocals and guitar playing throughout the album are\ngreat. Loved The Everly references and the other references to the 50s artists\nthat we all grew up on. It is now my long distance driving disc.”\nJimmy Webb\n“He’s the ultimate virtuoso. His skill is extraordinary\, his ear is extraordinary\nand he’s gifted on just about every level.”\nEric Clapton\nWhen he gets into his stride\, I can’t even keep up with him.\nEric Clapton\n“Great musicians make you want to dance\, make you cry and make you fall in\nlove – Albert does that with his playing.”\nJools Holland\n“There are great players\, and there are geniuses\, and Albert is a genius.”\nChris Farlowe\nIs it the speed\, is it the expression\, is it the sensitivity to what other people are\ndoing in the room at that moment and bringing out the best of them? It’s all of\nthose things. He just has an instinctive way of bringing out the best of\nwhatever music he’s playing.\nBob Harris\nHe’s a master\, and really a musical treasure. In terms of talent to\nrecognisability\, Albert’s balance is way off – he should be very very famous.\nHuey Lewis\nHe’s quite obviously a musical genius.\nRalph McTell
