SUMMARY:Jarrod Dickenson
DESCRIPTION:If Jarrod Dickenson’s third studio album\, “BIG TALK” sounds like amighty roar of defiance\, that’s not a design choice or a marketingdecision. The big Texan is settling scores all over town and he meansevery f*cking word.So what happened in the years since the release of Dickenson’s soulfulsophomore long-player\, “Ready the Horses”\, to have turned thishoney-voiced southern gentleman into a brawler? After a major labeldeal-gone-bad threatened to choke off his career and Covid complicationsleft him with a life-long medical condition Dickenson would havecertainly been forgiven for retreating to his Nashville home to lickwounds and maybe write a collection of introspective self-pity anthems.Instead\, the hardships and infuriation of recent years have only addedsteel to the resolve of an artist already willing to do it the hard way\,prepared to stand in the face of a music business that shows dwindlingregard for the brand of artistry that first inspired him to pick up aguitar and sing for his life.

SUMMARY:Romeo's Daughter + Matt Pearce & The Mutiny
DESCRIPTION:Not everyone starts their career with a debut album – released in 1988 – produced in collaboration with music industry heavyweights: ‘Mutt’ Lange and John Parr. Indeed\, it was only a matter of time before Romeo’s Daughter hit the headlines! Hot on the heels of its success\, their whirlwind tour of the US saw their single\, ‘Don’t Break My Heart’ shoot up the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.\n\nTheir dynamic and distinctive sound\, described as brimming with “poise\, pathos\, memorable melodic hooks and inventive arrangements” has been consistently\, and uniquely delivered over the years by: Leigh Matty (vocalist)\, Craig Joiner (guitarist\, songwriter and producer) and Andy Wells (drums). With this line-up\,  Romeo’s Daughter has a pedigree\, second to none; with each member having worked with the likes of: Whitney Houston\, Tom Jones\, Meatloaf\, Jane Wiedlin\, Bonnie Tyler\, Roxette and John Parr. They are delighted to be joined by Steve Drennan on Bass for their 30th Anniversary Tour in 2020 and 2021. \n\n\nOver the years\, their infectious music: brimming with power\, passion and sophistication – and fronted by Leigh Matty: recently voted in the top 5 ‘Lady Rock Singers of all time’ – has attracted the highest calibre of established artists; with Heart covering their single: ‘Wild Child’ on their 3 million sell-out album\, ‘Brigade’ – achieving No. 2 on the Billboard Rock All Play chart; as well as Eddie Money\, Bonnie Tyler\, and the recently reformed Steps! ‘Heaven in the Backseat’ – also from their debut album – also featured as the opening track of the 1990 film: ‘Nightmare on Elm Street 5’.\n\n30 years down the line\, Romeo’s Daughter is proud to present their 30th Anniversary Tour! With a fan base that never quit – even during their 16 year break\, from 1993-2009 – they returned to worldwide praise with the release of their album: ‘Rapture’ in 2012 receiving an appropriately rapturous reception! As one of Britain’s finest rock bands\, Romeo’s Daughter consistently perform to sell-out audiences and are one of the few bands of their generation who have come back better than the first time. \n\n  \n  \nMatt Pearce & The Mutiny \nLondon-based\, Glasgow-born\, Matt is an original member of the successful hard rock outfit Voodoo Six. He’s released five albums with V6\, including one recorded in L.A. at Steve Vai’s ‘Mothership Studios’\, and their latest album was released in 2020. ‘The Soul Food Store’ and ‘Gotta Get Home’ were both mixed by Matt’s V6 bandmate Tony Newton\, who produced and mixed Iron Maiden’s last 2 live releases. \nMatt & The Mutiny’s first steps into the live arena have been a huge success with storming shows all across the UK and as far afield as Russia. Shows and festivals played so far include headlining the opening night of Planet Rockstock\, HRH Blues and C.R.O.W.S\, Planet Rock’s Winter’s End\, Skegness Rock and Blues\, Legends Of Rock\, Winterstorm\, Cambridge Rock Fest\, British Blues Invasion Moscow\, a UK tour with Laurence Jones\, and two successful shows at London’s Garage\, the second of which made it into the Best Gigs Of 2021 lists of writers from MetalTalk and Record Collector.

SUMMARY:The Roy Orbison Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Roy Orbison Experience performing the songbook of Roy Orbison\, including Pretty Woman\, Penny Arcade\, You Got It\, Only The Lonely\, I Drove All Night\, plus many more hits from his career. \nThe Roy Orbison Experience is a celebration of the music of Roy Orbison\, with the amazing vocal talent of Oliver Harris\, and with an excellent experienced fully live band of talented musicians. This is guaranteed to be an experience you won’t want to miss. This is not a look-a-like tribute act\, but rather a special live performance faithfully replicating the unique unrivaled sound of Roy Orbison. \n“Fabulous night. The Roy Orbison Experience were brilliant. It was like Roy Orbison was in the room with us. Thanks for a great night.” Elizebeth Atkinson \n“Fantastic night at the Little Theatre\, Hebden Bridge watching The Roy Orbison Experience\, the music was fabulous with all the favourites\, Pretty Woman\, Only the Lonely\, and so many more – as well as some Travelling Willburys – Oliver Harris was like having Roy Orbison with us\, such a brilliant voice and the band were great.” Lynn Worsnup \n“Incredible show at Gateshead!” Laura Fawcett \n“We had a ‘new for us’ band on here on 4th February\, who\, I have to say were absolutely brilliant – they are in my best 5 of all time ‘tribute’ bands and I do put on a lot of tributes. They are called ‘The Roy Orbison Experience’ They are a 5 piece band from South Yorkshire. They are also lovely guys to-boot. I have NEVER in all my time here\, had so many positive comments and requests to bring them back\, which I normally only do on an annual basis\, but I am trying to get these guys back in six months if we can fix a date. They received a standing ovation\, and the lead singer was on point with the voice of Roy Orbison\, who has a very distinctive voice and some customers said it was even better.” Jan Cottingham – Chapel Arts\, Bath

SUMMARY:Straighten Out at Wrecking Ball Arts Centre
DESCRIPTION:STRAIGHTEN OUT are the world’s premier Stranglers tribute band with an extensive set-list that spans two solid hours as they re-create the ‘early years’ sound of The Stranglers\, complete with a Hammond organ and Minimoog synth; the same models used by Mr. Greenfield himself\, back in the day! \nThe growling bass sound and the quirky guitar riffs are all there to be heard as is the dual vocal ‘attack’ from the two frontmen a-la Burnel/Cornwell as they rip through the Stranglers’ classic: ‘Peaches’\, ‘Hanging Around’\, ‘No More Heroes’\, ‘5 Minutes’\, ‘The Raven’\, ‘Walk On By’\, ‘Straighten Out’\, ‘Down In The Sewer’ and many more as they cover the Stranglers’ early classic albums and beyond. \nStraighten Out will take you on a nostalgia trip that transports you back to those raw\, powerful\, exhilarating times when The Stranglers emerged through the quagmire of mediocrity to produce some of the finest music ever written. Straighten Out will put you back in that place! \nBassist Shaggy and keyboard player Mick (‘The Doc’) were together in previous Stranglers tribute band ‘Four More Heroes’ and it was only natural that these two continued on after their demise to form ‘Straighten Out’ given their love of Stranglers music and the desire to keep playing live. They set the platform with the growling bass and swirling keyboard sound so essential to reproducing the authentic Stranglers sound. Joining them are Jet ‘Beets’ Beety on drums and Phil Harvey steps up to give you the ‘Hugh’ element to complete the fearsome foursome. \nStraighten Out are a must-see tribute band!

SUMMARY:Stray at Wrecking Ball Arts Centre
DESCRIPTION:STRAY date back to 1966\, when teenagers vocalist Steve Gadd\, guitarist Del Bromham\, bass player Gary Giles and drummer Steve Crutchley formed the band whilst all were attending the local Christopher Wren School in London. \nIn 2019\, Colin Kempster replaced Stuart Uren as permanent bassist and\, for live gigs\, the band was also joined by Simon Rinaldo on keyboards. After successful concerts in late 2019 and an acclaimed set at the annual Giants of Rock Festival in Minehead\, Stray set out on a full joint headlining tour with Ken Pustelnik’s Groundhogs in February and March in 2020. \nIn 2003\, Stray were the support band to Iron Maiden on several of their European dates on the Dance of Death World Tour 2003-2004. These included dates in Spain\, Portugal\, Poland and France. There are two other Iron Maiden connections to Stray. All in Your Mind from Stray’s 1970 debut album was covered by Iron Maiden and was included on the 1995 reissue of No Prayer for the Dying\, and Maiden bassist Steve Harris’s daughter Lauren has covered Come On Over.

SUMMARY:The Kris Drever Band at Wrecking Ball Arts Centre
DESCRIPTION:One of Scotland’s finest and most acclaimed songwriters Kris Drever will tour with his own band (for the first time outside of his work with Lau) in 2023\, and to coincide Reveal Records will issue an expansive career spanning compilation album of Kris’ work to date. The new compilation album will also feature some exclusive new songs written and recorded for the band project. \nSince the release of his acclaimed 2020 album “Where The World Is Thin” Kris has been busy collaborating in the studio and playing major shows with Julie Fowlis\, Karine Polwart\, Sekou Keita and Jackie Morris for their Lost Spell Songs project (Thirty Tigers\, 2021)\, won yet another BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Original Song\, won Album of The Year at the Scots Trad Music Award 2021\, duetted with Aoife O’Donovan and toured with Lau and Rachel Baiman. \nAbout the forthcoming tour Kris says\, \n“Collaboration has always been at the heart of my enjoyment of music. I love the freedom of heading out on my own; I love the challenge of trying to realise full arrangements with just a guitar and a vocal but\, for me\, nothing comes close to building those invisible cathedrals with my comrades. The excitement of real musical dialogue is overwhelming: the knowledge that something is happening in front of me that can’t ever be exactly replicated is fascinating and frankly\, even after 30 years as a musician\, miraculous. \nFor the last few years\, I’ve been working with a really special group of musicians\, mostly in the studio – although we have made it out into the light very occasionally to perform. \nIt’s time now\, though\, to share these wonderful people and the experiences they create with as wide an audience as possible\, because they’re fabulous. \nLouis Abbott is a multi-instrumentalist (drums\, guitars\, keys) and vocalist who is best known for his work as the front man of Scottish Indie collective Admiral Fallow; Euan Burton is my long time co-producer (studio adult) and absolutely stellar double bassist; and Rachel Lightbody is a highly prized Jazz singer who also excels in her work as a backing vocal artist. \nHaving gotten together increasingly frequently in recent times for various TV and online performances\, we’ve worked up a broad variety of my own material. We’ve found a route into songs from across my back catalogue\, and in many cases opened them up in ways that I could never have figured out on my own. The upshot of all this is that it’s time to take this fresh sound and retrospective collection on the road.” \nKris’s website\nhttps://www.krisdrever.com/ \nKris’s Twitter\nhttps://twitter.com/krisdrever

SUMMARY:The Unravelling Wilburys at Wrecking Ball Arts Centre
DESCRIPTION:This top tribute show is more than just a tribute – they are the complete package! Their great combination of brilliant musicianship and tongue in cheek humour has had rave reviews throughout the UK. Playing the country-rock songs of the Traveling Wilburys\, the band also steal some choice numbers from its five iconic members; Roy Orbison\, Tom Petty\, George Harrison\, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne. \nThe fabulous UNRAVELLING WILBURYS are made up of Sticky Willy\, Walter\, Thumper\, Blind Melon and Honky Tonk Wilbury\, the “real” Wilbury brothers\, who present their own unique slant on what it means to be a tribute band. The show tells the story of the fateful night in Nashville’s Tootsies Bar in 1987\, when their songs were (allegedly) stolen by Messrs Orbison & Co. and the hard road they had to tread to get ‘em back. \nWith a set list comprising of songs including ‘Handle With Care’\, ‘Tweeter And The Monkey Man’\, ‘The Devil’s Been Busy’\, ‘Pretty Woman’\, ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’\, ‘Mr Blue Sky’\, ‘Mr Tambourine Man’ and ‘American Girl’\, this is a show not to be missed!

SUMMARY:John Hackett Band + Carrie Martin
DESCRIPTION:John Hackett Band at Wrecking Ball Arts Centre \nSupport: Carrie Martin \nJohn Hackett has been a much-loved and admired figure in the progressive rock scene since the mid-70’s; best-known for his flute work with his brother\, former Genesis guitarist\, Steve Hackett on albums such as Voyage of The Acolyte\, Sketches of Satie and Please Don’t Touch. \n‘Progressive’ music in our sense of the word is based on rock-solid song-writing coupled with hot jazz drumming\, melodic\, funky bass\, outstanding guitar in the form of Nick Fletcher (often compared to the late great jazz-fusion maestro Allan Holdsworth)\, and John Hackett himself – whose flute playing has graced so many albums and travels with such ease between classical\, folk and rock. \nDrawing on songs from John’s solo albums Checking Out of London and Another Life\, the evening also features material from the band’s debut\, We Are Not Alone\, the Hackett/Fletcher album Beyond the Stars and tunes for JHB’s new release due out Autumn 2023 \nJohn Hackett – vocals\, flute\, keyboard\nNick Fletcher – lead guitar\nDuncan Parsons – drums\, vocals\nJeremy Richardson – vocals\, bass\, acoustic guitar
